tax litigation and dispute resolution

We advise clients at all stages of the tax dispute process. Our early-stage work involves negotiations with the Canada Revenue Agency, the Canada Border Services Agency and provincial tax authorities in the pre-assessment audit phase and the preparation of effective Notices of Objection and presentations to the applicable tax authority. Early intervention, short of court proceedings, offers the prospect of timely and cost-effective resolution of tax disputes. However, litigation often is necessary to resolve the most complex issues. Our tax litigators are not only tax advocates, but also highly experienced tax practitioners. Their broad litigation experience ranges from the Tax Court of Canada to the Supreme Court of Canada. Our tax dispute settlement team brings together expertise in tax administration, court procedure, substantive tax law and tax policy.
