As a leading Canadian business law firm, McMillan routinely advises our clients on the full spectrum of corporate transactional matters ranging from buying and selling private and public businesses to structuring and implementing investments on behalf of private equity investors, financial institutions and others. Our corporate transaction lawyers have experience in a broad range of industries and they understand the business concerns that face our clients and work with our clients to get the deal done in a manner which addresses both the legal and business considerations.

Our corporate transaction lawyers work with members of other practice areas including tax, pensions and benefits, employment, competition, technology and intellectual property, regulatory   and real estate to provide our clients with efficient, seamless service in all aspects of their transactional needs.

We routinely work closely with U.S. and international law firms in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private transactions, providing legal advice and support in respect of the Canadian components of the transaction.

Our public company transactional experience includes the representation of buyers and sellers, target companies, investment dealers, lenders and financial advisors in complex transactions that involve a variety of business combinations, including the purchase of assets or shares, going private transactions, take-over bids (friendly and hostile), amalgamations and plans of arrangement.  We also act on behalf of a broad group of private company clients both in Canada and internationally in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestiture transactions and other complex commercial transactions and reorganizations.

The members of our private equity and venture capital group have been active participants in the Canadian private equity and venture capital markets for many years and have significant experience working with private equity funds and financial institutions in acquisitions and dispositions and related finance transactions.
