alternative dispute resolution

McMilllan lawyers are experienced in multiple facets of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a means to resolve disputes promptly and efficiently without costly and time-consuming civil litigation. Our ADR regime encompasses a number of processes, including conflict avoidance, negotiation, mediation, evaluation, and arbitration. We help clients weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each method, and pursue the one best positioned to meet their needs.

Our firm has acted in all facets of alternative dispute resolution, including: the preparation of rules of procedure for administrative boards and tribunals; court-connected and private mediations; the preparation of conflict-resolution systems for universities and other enterprises; acting as chair and as third-party neutrals in international commercial arbitrations and advising internationally-based associations of arbitrators.  We can identify and provide qualified arbitrators and mediators, serve as advocates for our clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and offer legal advice in the review and appeal of arbitration awards.
