Peter leads Calgary's litigation group and his practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, arbitration and mediations. He clerked with the Alberta Court of Appeal and Queen's Bench before commencing his legal practice as a Prosecutor with the Alberta Department of Justice followed by his entre into private practice and civil litigation while continuing to prosecute as an agent for the Federal Department of Justice for approximately seven years.
In private practice Peter regularly appears, and has been successful, in all levels of Court in Alberta. He draws from considerable courtroom experience to provide practical and effective advice on how each of his clients can best pursue a resolution to their specific problems.
In the firm's specialized energy practice, Peter is repeatedly lead counsel on behalf of individuals, junior, mid-size and major corporations in all forms of disputes ranging from royalty claims; Rights of First Refusal; AMI acquisitions; trespass, lease enforcement and collapses; facilities operations; interpretation and applications of CO&O Agreements and CAPL procedures; enforcement and challenges to caveat registration and mining claims.
Peter is similarly lead counsel in multiple non energy related commercial disputes representing a wide variety of corporate and individual clients ranging from complex contractual disputes, oppression claims, fraud, subrogated claims, patent protection, defamation, commercial and residential real estate disputes to all forms of employment matters. More notably, Peter, with colleagues in the Toronto office, was Canadian counsel for overseas institutional clients in a $700 million multi cross border banking litigation dispute.
