Luigi (Lou) Macchione is a lawyer at McMillan with 30 years experience specializing in commercial real estate development and construction law and is a partner of the firm's Real Estate Group.
Lou regularly acts for domestic and foreign property owners and lenders in commercial real estate transactions involving hotels, shopping centres, office buildings, industrial buildings and apartment buildings. Lou has developed a unique expertise on municipal public/private partnerships, particularly with sports arena projects. He also has extensive experience in construction law.

- Acted on the sale of Royal Bank of Canada's office portfolio, including Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto
- Acted for a Canadian pension fund on the acquisition of Commerce Court, a 2.2 million square foot office complex in Toronto's financial district
- Acted for Kilmer Van Nostrand on the sale of Warren Paving & Materials to Lafarge Inc. involving pits and quarries across 5 provinces
- Acts for car parts manufacturers in connection with site acquisition, development approvals and construction of manufacturing plants in Ontario
- Extensive work experience in mixed-use development projects and has acted for the consortia that constructed the Brampton Sportsplex in the City of Brampton which comprises a spectator arena with a capacity of up to 6,000 spectators, as well as three additional ice rinks
- Acted for the City of Vaughan on the Rutherford Road Arena, a 4 hockey rink facility on a 32 acre park developed as a public/private partnership
- Acted for the owner and operator of the Toronto-Rochester fast ferry in the negotiation of a lease and operating agreement for docking and terminal building facilities at the Port of Toronto
- Acted for the contractor in negotiation of a construction contract for the finishing work on the new Terminal 1 facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport
- Acted for contractor on construction contract dispute with regard to paving of the east and west extensions of the Highway 401 Electronic Toll Road
- Acted for the Northern Ontario Medical School on a lease and construction agreement for new medical school facilities at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Acted for first nations on construction contract for winter ice road through Northern Ontario
