Professional Experience
Lisa Parliament is a partner in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Competition Groups. She is also an active member of the firm's Product Liability, Life Sciences and Class Action specialized practice groups.
Lisa's practice focuses on complex corporate and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on products litigation, class action defence, consumer protection, and competition litigation. She has successfully represented clients in complex proceedings involving a variety of products including pharmaceutical products, medical devices, consumer products, food products, building products, and packaging and display materials. She has extensive experience in defending domestic and international class actions and assists a number of leading companies with national coordination and management of their litigation matters in Canada.
Lisa also regularly advises leading companies on regulatory issues and on risk assessment and management. She has developed specialized experience in life sciences and federally regulated products. She advises clients in relation to contractual negotiations and disputes, compliance matters and the regulatory regimes governing the approval and marketing of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food and consumer products in Canada.
Lisa has been counsel in numerous international and cross-border cartel and conspiracy investigations and litigation. She has extensive experience in the defence of investigations by Canada's Competition Bureau and the Director of Public Prosecutions. She has been involved in defending many of the recent major civil class action cases involving allegations of anti-competitive activities, including the air cargo, air passenger, hydrogen peroxide and chocolate matters.
Lisa has developed expertise in alternative methods of resolving disputes, including arbitration and mediation. She has taught dispute resolution (business disputes) as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, one of Canada's leading law schools. She has been admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and has been involved in a number of domestic and international arbitrations. She has also acted as the Assistant to the Tribunal in significant international arbitrations.
