Professional Experience

Lisa Brost is a partner in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. Her expertise is in the areas of financial services litigation, creditor/debtor disputes and restructuring and insolvency litigation.

Lisa acts for financial institutions, both as plaintiff and defendant, including complex cases involving fraud, lender liability, asset recovery, auditor negligence and Bills of Exchange Act matters. Her experience in financial services litigation was further honed during a one-year secondment at one of the world's preeminent financial institutions, Royal Bank of Canada.

Lisa frequently appears as counsel before the Ontario Superior Court (Commercial List) and has acted for clients in proceedings at the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada.

Lisa is the editor-in-chief of the website of the American Bar Association's Bankruptcy and Insolvency Litigation Committee, the Secretary of the Canadian Network of IWIRC (International Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation) and the editor of the firm's Financial Services Litigation Bulletin.

Prior to the commencement of her legal career, Lisa served for several years as a Media Analyst at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C., where was involved in a wide range of cross-border issues.
