Professional Activities
Michael Mulroy is an associate counsel in the Employment and Labour Law Group in the Toronto office. He practises exclusively in the area of employment law, including wrongful dismissal, workers' compensation, human rights, and occupational health and safety.
Michael represents individuals and corporations regarding proceedings under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act 1997, and the Human Rights Code. He also regularly advises employers with respect to their rights and obligations.
His extensive experience includes acting as counsel at all levels of courts, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Michael has participated in seminars on employment matters on topics including termination, curbing the costs of dismissal, employment standards, workplace safety, privacy, accommodating health issues, issue estoppel and workers' compensation and Criminal Code amendments to Occupational Health and Safety.
Michael is also a member of the firm's Harassment & Discrimination Committee.

Representative Transactions
Michael Mulroy acted on the following transactions:
- In 2010 and 2011, Michael acted as part of the firm team on several acquisitions.
- On June 25, 2009, Michael acted as part of the team that represented Associated Proteins Limited Partnership in its C$64 million plus working capital asset purchase by Viterra Inc.
- On January 13, 2006, Michael was a part of the team that represented Kraft Canada Inc. when it completed the sale of its canned fruit and vegetable, soup and Italian foods businesses to CanGro Foods Inc., a newly-formed affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, Inc. and EG Capital Group, LLC.
- On September 16, 2005, Avaya Inc., a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, purchased all of the issued and outstanding shares of Nimcat Networks Incorporated, a developer of embedded, peer-to-peer IP (Internet Protocol) communications applications software, for C$46 million. The firm represented Avaya.
- On November 1, 2001, Ballard Power Systems agreed to acquire XCELLSIS and Ecostar Electric Drive Systems L.L.C. from DaimlerChrysler and Ford Motor Company on October 2, 2001, for C$553 million, in consideration for the issuance by Ballard of 18,403,523 common shares. The firm represented Ballard on labour matters.
